Mr. Elephant toddled around until he was all tired out.
Then he told Mr. Ape that he couldn’t stand up another minute.
“Now what would Mr. Man do if he was feeling the same as I do?” Mr. Elephant asked, and Mr. Ape said:
“Why, he would sit down.”

Definitely needs to sit down. So much weight on his knees that he will need knee replacement surgery if he’s not careful.
Another lovely full, rich illustration from an artist/graphic designer who has invested way more of himself into his work than was surely mandated for a children’s book. But then again, perhaps this is why I still recall them so fondly half a century later! All I know is that these magnificent illustrations you post for us are fast becoming one of the highlights of my day. Again, “thanks” !
Oh, that’s nice. Mr. Ape may wear a dressing gown and smoking a pipe in his old age. I like that.
Yet another wonderful illustration. Thanks, Elephant (and thanks to Mr Elephant too… you can sit down now).
Never trust a monkey in a Fez…
Is it “never trust a monkey in a Fez” ?? or is it “never trust a Fez on a monkey”??? I get these things mixed up some times!
