What a bunch of snotty pigs!
I think the first one is a sheriff and the other two are prisoners! The law enforcement pig does look snotty!

When I first saw the illustration, I thought I was looking at three mice! Even now that I know they’re supposed to be piggies, they still look at lot like mice…
I agree they do look mice or ratlike! You are on the lookout for all things PIG.

I adore this illustration but it really does look like three blind mice.
I don’t think the illustration goes with the rhyme too well either. They did reuse illustrations – sometimes in a surprising way!

Boy that Pig-in-Charge has nice clothes, and the other two are merely in kerchiefs and cheap hats. I love that the one in back has it’s top hat with its lid flapping. As if he was a gentleman pig who had lost his shirt and fallen in with bad company. I can see his parents coming to bail him out and being even snobbier than their jailor. He’s the most mouse-like of the three.
