Rock An Elephant Baby!

“Then he began the business of rocking that cradle.”

A tiny cradle, – it was a real baby’s cradle, – had been placed near the center of the stage. Tony soberly walked up to it and gently laid the baby elephant in the cradle, pulling up the bedclothes with his clever trunk and tenderly covering the baby.

Picking up a match from a table close by, he scratched it, and lit a candle on the table. Then he began the business of rocking the cradle, in such a funny manner that the boys and girls just shrieked with laughter.

    1. Yes, this book has a very unusual color spectrum in the illustrations – some “necessary” colors just aren’t there! It gives them a very interesting look and made me a little crazy at first!

    1. You are not getting any difference of opinion from me – that little elephant is irresistible! Maybe Piggy and Puggy should go into acting – Piggy would look cute dressed up as a mother, and Puggy would be adorable dolled up as a baby in a cradle!

HiHo and thanks again for the link – I am going to look at that baby elephant again and again!

    1. Tony is breaking hearts this morning! It just goes to show if you dress a young elephant up and have him rock a cradle on stage people enjoy it! I like the illustration too!
      Thanks,

    1. Yes, it would make a cute mother’s day card – except that the mother here is really little Tony and he is acting the part of a mother dressed up and on stage! You just gave him a very good review!
