In Mexico
Soon they will sup from a beautiful dish,
Modeled in clay, on tortillas and fish.
Then, when the stars are all lighted, perchance
Off they will run to the plaza to dance.
Songs in their hearts and sweet bells on their clothes;
Gay little Mexicans, give me a rose!
Kids of Many Colors.

This is my favourite illustration so far! Charming!
So glad you like these kids! I have to check, but I think you like this book, “Kids of Many Colors.” There are some “difficult” images and text in the book – it was published in a different era, but when the illustrations and text aren’t “nasty” the book is charming.
Thanks for your attentive interest,
